Foster to Adopt Program

 

We know that bringing a new pet home is a big decision, and we want to make sure it's the right fit for you and them! That's why we offer a Foster-to-Adopt Program for all approved adopters after a successful meet & greet.

Once your adoption application is approved and your meet & greet goes well, you'll have the option to take your new friend home for a 14-day trial period.

• We can provide all necessary supplies to help you get started (food, crate, leash, etc.) while you make sure your new pet fits comfortably into your home and lifestyle

• No adoption fees are due until you know it's a good fit & finalize the adoption!

If everything goes well, you'll finalize the adoption, pay the adoption fee, receive your pet's complete medical records, and officially make them part of your family!

 

If you find that it's not a good match, that's okay. We just ask that you call us or message us on Facebook before returning the pet. Because we are often operating at or over capacity, we may need a little time to make space and prepare for their return, and your communication helps us do that safely and smoothly.

*To proceed with the foster-to-adopt, you must initial & sign our “Foster-to-Adopt Agreement”. This is a legally binding document that establishes you as the temporary foster home but the pet still belongs to FCAC. During the foster period you are responsible for the well-being and daily care of the animal.

 

Please understand that we prefer our cats and dogs not to bounce around from home to home so if you decide this isn’t the dog or cat for you within the 14 day time frame, it is essential that you let us know as soon as you have made a decision-- even if before the 14 day period. We also ask you give the new pet at least 48 hours to adjust before making an impulse decision.  You won't see his or her true personality until they have time to acclimate. We also have handouts and tips to help make the adjustment period smoother!
